The Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce strengthens the economic climate through business leadership that fosters member and community prosperity.

Public Affairs & Advocacy

The Chamber works on behalf of its membership to influence public policy that will create a business climate favorable for growth and progress. The Chamber plays a lead role in promoting pro-business issues throughout our Northern Rhode Island community and the state as a whole.

The Chamber has two full-time lobbyists who work tirelessly addressing issues and concerns with members of the Rhode Island General Assembly as well as statewide, federal and local elected officials.

The Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce is also the organizing Chamber of the Chamber of Commerce Coalition. The Coalition is a lobbying partnership representing 10 Chambers of Commerce throughout Rhode Island. The Chamber Coalition has grown to become the largest business advocacy organization in the state. Members of the Chamber of Commerce Coalition are the Northern Rhode Island, Central Rhode Island, East Bay, East Greenwich, East Providence Area, Newport County, North Central, North Kingstown, Southern Rhode Island & Greater Westerly-Pawcatuck area Chambers of Commerce.

The Chamber also produces “Under the Dome,” an electronic newsletter that outlines key legislative concerns and explains the impact specific pieces of legislation will have on the business community.

The Chamber maintains a government affairs website,

www.rhodeislandbusinessvotes.com which is the e-Advocacy arm for the Chamber and the Chamber Coalition. The website allows the Chamber and its partners an electronic advocacy tool to educate members and communicate with elected officials.

With the concurrence of our Chamber Coalition partners and members of our Government Affairs Committee and the Chamber Political Action Committee, the Chamber is a viable ally intent on serving the needs of our members.
