The Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce is Rhode Island's LOCAL Chamber, providing opportunities for businesses to grow and prosper, not only regionally but also globally. Businesses can build success by joining the Chamber and taking advantage of: Lobbying - The Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce has two full-time lobbyists on its staff looking out for the interests of business at the local, state and federal levels. The Chamber welcomes input from our members on proposed laws that will affect their business. We also publish Under the Dome, a weekly email newsletter that keeps members informed about the progress of bills that impact business and the Chamber’s position on those bills. In addition to lobbying for our own members, the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce is the leader and lobbies for the Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce Legislative Coalition, the largest pro-business organization in Rhode Island. Opportunities for Learning - Helping you run your business more productively is a high priority for us. We organize frequent seminars presented by experts in their fields on topics, such as developing leadership, how to hire the best employees, and business planning. In addition, the Chamber has partnered with several organizations throughout the state including the Export Assistance Center at Bryant College, the Small Business Development Center at Johnson and Wales University and the U.S. Small Business Administration to put our Chamber members in touch with the professionals they need to know. Community Development - Our community advisory groups, made up of Chamber member businesses in each city or town, provide advocacy, information, leadership and serve as the Chamber’s eyes and ears in the community. Community advisory groups are established in Burrillville, Cumberland, Lincoln, North Smithfield, Pawtucket, Smithfield, and Woonsocket. The goals and projects of each group differ, based on the needs of the community. Access - Members of the Chamber are part of northern Rhode Island’s strongest networking organization with access to nearly 850 businesses. The Chamber sponsors monthly breakfast and after-hours gatherings where you can meet fellow Chamber members. Furthermore, the Chamber coordinates several major events throughout the year including our signature event the Annual Dinner, the Pawtucket Red Sox Welcome Home Luncheon, an Evening at McCoy, a golf tournament, our Business Expo and the Legislative Reception where business professionals meet one-on-one with elected officials. Members can participate in one of our Executive Success Clubs and network with other business professionals. Chamber members may also advertise in Chamber publications, purchase mailing lists of Chamber businesses or respective email lists. Member businesses are listed in the annual Resource Guide that is distributed to all members and into local communities serves as a directory and guide to encourage members and the community to do business with Chamber members. Hundreds of persons contact the Chamber every year looking for business referrals. It is our policy to refer only Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce members. As a Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce member, your business is listed in the searchable membership directory on our website – www.nrichamber.com. With our partnership with the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce, our members may attend events planned by the Central Chamber at member prices. This gives our members twice as many events to attend with only one dues investment. Lowering Your Overhead - The Chamber knows businesses continuously search for ways to maximize profitability and maintain a healthy bottom line. Belonging to the Chamber can entitle you to discounted member benefits and services if you qualify. Among the benefits offered are discounts on overnight shipping, discounts on payroll expense programs, and use of the Chamber’s conference facilities. We can also help with business plans and marketing initiatives as you move forward. |
