Manufacturing and retail trade are the largest sources of income
in this 27.1 square-mile town. Interstate 295 splits the town in two and the town's
proximity to Interstate 95 makes Cumberland an attractive venue for business. The
Providence and Worcester Railroad operates a freight line through town. The Highland
II Corporate Park has attracted prestigious companies such as Tiffany's of New York.
Cultural attractions aren't lost in town. A new $4.2 million edition was completed
to the library and the Blackstone River Theatre hosts a variety of entertainment
and cultural events. For the outdoor enthusiast, the town owns several parks and
is constructing access points and canoe portage areas in several places along the
Blackstone River.
Cumberland has an elected mayor and town council.
