The town of Glocester serves as the western gateway to the Blackstone
Valley region. Located in the northwest sector of the state, it has largely retained
its rural character. The village of Chepachet is lined with antique shops and eateries.
Rich in history, this village houses the oldest, continually operating country store
in America. Plans are to open a visitor's center near the center of the village.
Glocester is the second largest town in northern Rhode Island
in terms of size, covering 55.3 square miles. The town offers recreation options
such sport fishing in one of its many lakes and ponds. The George Washington management
area, a state park, offers snowmobile and hiking trails, and seasonal hunting. Nearby
Pulaski Park offers swimming and cross-country skiing.
Glocester has an elected Town Council.
